In 1960, the Eames Office was commissioned by Time Inc.‎ to outfit the interiors of three lobbies in New York‘s Rockefeller Center.‎ As part of this project, Charles and Ray Eames designed the plush Lobby Chairs and a series of solid walnut stools.‎ These turned stools, which can also be used as side tables, are differentiated by the distinctive profi les of their shafts.‎ Material: laminated sections of solid walnut, lathe-turned, transparent lacquer finish.‎
