NUAGE À PLOTS Freestanding bookcase

Nuage à Plots bookcase by Charlotte Perriand – Cassina I Maestri Collection Charlotte Perriand, a true forerunner of new furnishing logics, never stopped studying the topic of containers and bookcases during her long career as an architect.‎ In the mid-1950s, she started working on the concept of the Nuage family of bookcases and containers, reissued by Cassina since 2012.‎ Multiple models of the Nuage project were edited by the legendary Parisian gallery Galérie Steph Simon between 1956 and 1970, and they are still highly sought after by collectors today.‎ Nuage à Plots is a floor or suspended wall bookcase composed of shelves and vertical elements connected to each other with tie rods and plain bearings.‎ Like all models in the range, it combines functionality with aesthetics following Perriand's concept of modularity to satisfy the user's needs.‎ The real difference, in addition to the one size 33.‎5cm depth of the shelves, are the 'plots' made from a single piece of curved aluminium that replaces the classic sides and backs by acting as a vertical element that distances the shelves.‎ These natural anodized or painted black or white 'plots' are left exposed without adding sliding panels.‎ The introduction of this new version is part of an operation to uncover the culture of design aimed at authentically reconstructing this series of furnishings, working as always in close collaboration with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, Charlotte Perriand’s daughter and sole heir.‎ Materials: shelves in solid blockboard veneered in natural or stained black oak with a low gloss finish; adjustable feet in plywood veneered in natural or stained black oak with a low gloss finish; plot in natural anodised aluminium or painted matt black or white; front tie rods and plain bearings in white galvanized iron; rear tie rods and wall fixing system in painted matt black iron.‎ 217x33.5xh.164cm; 240x33.5xh.205cm; 240x33.5xh.218cm
