Alaska, designed by Ruben Saldaña – Arkoslight Product Director -, is the contemporary reinterpretation of the design of the classical incandescent filament light bulb. Alaska is composed of a solid optical glass sphere that symbolically represents the glass bulb of a traditional light bulb. Its compact body is one single piece that is manually lathed and polished like a piece of jewellery. Each one of the luminaires is traditionally produced, thus acquiring the value of an unrepeatable decorative work. On the inside, the setback LED projects the light through an acidified cavity in the glass, which, when on, becomes alive, emulating the aesthetics of an incandescent filament. Visually, this luminous cone shines light through the sphere. Alaska combines soft ambient lighting with spotlight lighting, given that most of its luminous flow is projected downwards (downlight). This piece forms part of the product family of the Minimal Track low voltage track system.
